New Trier Beer Scandle

Around ten minutes ago my father called me into his office to show me a news story about the New Trier High School year book. The news story was about a student photographed with a beer can in her hand. The picture was snuck into the yearbook last minutes unfortunately that was a huge mistake. I have known both the girls in the photo since the 5th grade. I am going to be perfectly honest and say that its not the first time I have seen these girls with beer in their presence. I find it funny that the school is not doing a good job of covering up the incident from the press. New Trier as a school is usually propped up to this high pedicle. Personally I do not drink but I do have friends that do. I really don't have a problem with it as long as it doesn't effect me. The administration can not pretend that drinking does not happen. Earlier in the year a house three blocks away from mine was broken into by a classmate of mine and they started throwing parties there. The students were punished and that was the end of it. I don't know why the administration cares more about this issue of a beer can showing up in the year book more than a home being broken into. I think that no matter what they say to protect these girls from the ramifications of this picture people will always be able to find it.

My moms friend was just over and she said she thought New Trier kids drink classier beer than Pabst. I think its funny that right away outsiders already judge New Trier kids based on social class. I don't think this incident is a big deal. Most New Trier students drink, it's unfortunate that their picture was put in the book "by mistake". Though I also wonder is this is true when the words, "by mistake" are used. I wonder if the editor and the girls in the picture have a history or a relationship. Part of me wonders if this picture was put in on purpose though I think the beer can is so subtle that it was able to slip through all the editors meaning it probably wasn't put in on purpose. Nonetheless, some may call this story a tragedy.

llI think that they are blowing this story way out of proportion. It is no that big of a deal. I think that it is kind of funny that they are taking this so serious and getting people in trouble. It is one picture, the press only likes it because it puts New Trier in a bad position. I think that if this picture did not get into the news, than no one would care anymore.
I was reading an article online about the "scandal" at New Trier, and the comments to the article were really funny. There were a lot of comments about rich kids and how they should have been drinking a classier beer and not some cheap beer, I think that it is funny how everyone else is taking it as a joke, but the media needs to make it a big deal, so that New Trier gets blamed.
