This one ........................ Or This?
If you said the young man on the left maybe you should learn a little bit more about him
This is the young man on the left currently. His name is Denis Radar better known as the BTK killer. He has killed 12 people . Radar picked his victims and would get him self close to them on a level that made his victims feel comfortable with him around. Then he would attack them.To learn more about BTK click here for a video.
So what about him so comforting to people? Why did people not call the cops when he walked down a street? What is the difference between him and the black rapper next to him? I think maybe it is that the rapper on the right (50 cent) looks stronger and has a gun right in your face. Or is it the fact that he is black? Could we only be comforable around our own race. Lets look at this again but with two different guys.

Kate, I think this is a great post. I was actually thinking about something similar to this the other day as I reviewed my notes from class. I think that this is apparent in our elders, or at least I see it in my grandmother. When we are out to dinner and we are ordering, I can tell when she feels more comfortable ordering and when she is more polite; with a white waiter. That may sound rediculous but I think it is very relevant to your post. I really like how you compared the two races and the two people and I think you have a great point, I think alot of people are intimidated by black people, however I don't think that the reason why people didnt call the police on Denis Radar is simply because they were comfortable with him and did not know that he was going to attack them, I don't think that they ignored his crime because he's white.
I noticed something in the post... "What is the difference between him and the black raper next to him? " Freudian slip? The next time you said "rapper", which is the correct spelling. I know that the correct grammar is "rapist", but "raper" is a bit too close. I agree with you that many people would have chosen the man on the left when asked who they were more comfortable with. However, I agree with Maddie about Dennis Radar manipulating his victims into trusting him. A black person could do the same thing. I don't believe the reason that he got away with murder for a while was because of his race.
Good catch remind me to have you edit my next paper! I think he was over looked as a criminal after he was put in jail beacuse he was white. if you ask some random person who BTK is and then ask them who OJ 7-10 people will know who OJ is and not BTK. Thats just my experience though
Nice provocation, Kate. I'm assuming you got the idea from a a famous sociological test from the 1970s in which the subjects were given photos of African-Americans versus photos of such people as KKK Grand Wizards. Maddie's follow up is excellent -- certainly there is a large generation gap perception in what is "normal" and "comfortable".
